A CULTURAL EXPLORATION OF NORTH INDIA
11 nights and 12 days
Day 1: FRIDAY, 23rd OCTOBER 2020 DELHI
Our trip begins in Delhi, the capital of India. As India can be chaotic, noisy and somewhat of a culture shock, we aim to make this a gentle landing by picking you up from the airport and then whisking you off to your comfortable hotel where you will stay overnight to help you transition to your new time zone.
Day 2: SATURDAY 24th OCTOBER 2020 TO JAIPUR
We rise early and after a sumptuous multi-cuisine breakfast we board our luxury bus for Jaipur, which is about a 5 hour drive from Delhi. Within the pink walls of this city you will find lively bazaars, camel carts, cows and rickshaw drivers as well as historic sights. This is a city not just known for bustling bazaars but also as a street photographer’s delight.
Day 3: SUNDAY, 25th OCTOBER 2020 JAIPUR
Jaipur is a city that has something for everyone, it’s crammed with fairy tale palaces and heaves with history. Jaipur’s bazaars possess shops that are filled with all kinds of exotic wares like an Ali Baba’s cave and foods that elevate the mood and tastebuds. Here highly talented craftsmen and artisans work side by side with vendors so not only do you get to shop but you get to see where things are made.
In Jaipur today we celebrate the festival of Dussehra where India celebrates the triumph of good over evil.
Days 4 : SUNDAY, 25th OCTOBER 2020 - JAIPUR TO BHARATPUR
As the city wakes up, you catch a glimpse of what life is like for the flower sellers, the milk men, the fruit and vegetable sellers - everyday India in a frame.
We drive to Bharatpur today with a detour to Abhaneri aka Chand Baori - one of Rajasthan’s most spectacular stepwells.
Day 5: MONDAY, 26th OCTOBER 2020 BHARATPUR-AGRA
Early this morning we visit the historic Keoladeo Ghana National bird sanctuary - arguably the most spectacular one in India.
We continue to Agra today with one of our customary detours enroute. ( we like to keep some things a surprise!)
Day 6 : WEDNESDAY, 28th OCTOBER 2020 - AGRA
We rise to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise, tinted blush pink at dawn. Also, we will stop by a very special enterprise run by some very brave women (we will tell you all about it later) . There’s a walking tour of Agra too, with visits to villages and artisans.
Day 7: THURSDAY 29th OCT - ORCHHA
Since we like to mix it up a little, today we stop by Orchha which is steeped in history and famous for its palaces and temples built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The journey to Orchha will be by train which is going to be quite an experience!!!! We are going to be shutter happy, clicking pictures today.
Day 8- FRIDAY, 30th OCTOBER 2020 - KHAJURAHO
Built between the 10th and 12th centuries, Khajuraho is the greatest monument to the Chandela dynasty. Carved from soft sandstone, these are possibly some of the most beautiful temples in all of India.
